Chaka Salt Lake, located in Chaka Town, Wulan County, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, sits at an altitude of approximately 3059 meters. When the lake is calm, it perfectly reflects the sky, clouds, and snow-capped mountains, earning it the nickname "China's Mirror of the Sky." Visitors can walk barefoot on the lake to photograph the reflections, or take a vintage narrow-gauge train to the heart of the lake, admiring the large salt sculptures along the way. The scenic area is open from approximately 8:00 AM to 7:40 PM during peak season (May-October) and 8:15 AM to 7:00 PM during off-season. The best time to visit is from June to September, when the weather is cool, the lake has ample water, and the mirror-like reflection is at its best. To avoid crowds, consider visiting in late May or late September for less crowded scenery and better value. The golden times for photography are before 9:00 AM and after 4:00 PM, when the light is soft, the lake is calm, and the reflections are clearest.

To reach Chaka Salt Lake, you must first arrive in Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province. You can fly to Xining Caojiabao Airport or take a high-speed train or regular train to Xining Railway Station. From Xining, the main transportation options are: Bus， Multiple buses depart daily from Xining Passenger Transport Center (east of the railway station) to Chaka Town. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours, and the fare is approximately 65.5-86 yuan. After arriving in Chaka Town, a taxi ride of about 15 yuan and 4 kilometers will take you to the scenic area. * **Train:** During peak tourist season (July-September) and public holidays, direct tourist trains run from Xining Station to Chaka Scenic Area (e.g., train Y969, departing Xining at 09:00 and arriving in Chaka at 13:23). A hard seat costs 62.5 yuan, and the journey takes approximately 4 hours and 23 minutes. The train station is located within the scenic area's parking lot, making it extremely convenient. Driving/Chartering a Car， From Xining, drive approximately 290 kilometers along the Beijing-Tibet Expressway, a journey of about 4 hours. Search for "Chaka Salt Lake Scenic Area" on your navigation app. It is recommended to take the small train directly to the final station (Chaka Heart Station/Chaka Snow Station), and then walk from the inside out to explore the lake. You can take photos as you go, which saves energy and allows you to capture the lake scenery under different lighting conditions. The whole trip takes about 3 to 4 hours.

The park entrance features a visitor hall, ticket windows, and 3,500 parking spaces (including charging stations for new energy vehicles and a campervan area). Key facilities include a vintage narrow-gauge train (50 yuan one way), sightseeing electric vehicles (5 yuan for short shuttles), shoe cover rental (10 yuan/pair, 50 yuan deposit, mandatory for walking on the lake), a salt culture museum, and multiple restrooms located near various stops. The walking trails are primarily salt flat boardwalks and paths alongside the railway tracks, approximately 4-5 kilometers round trip from the entrance to the center of the lake. The salt crystals on the surface are hard and uncomfortable; taking the train is recommended to conserve energy. Gift shops and restaurants are available for purchasing salt sculpture souvenirs and simple meals.
