Porcelain House

The Porcelain House was originally a French-style villa built in the 1920s. It was later renovated over five years by collector Zhang Lianzhi, decorated with over 700 million pieces of ancient porcelain shards, more than 13,000 pieces of antique porcelain, over 300 stone sculptures, and over 20 tons of crystal and agate. The building features "peace walls" made of stacked porcelain vases, a giant porcelain dragon spiraling on the roof, and paintings of famous Chinese and foreign works pieced together from porcelain shards, earning it the reputation of a "Chinese Ancient Porcelain Museum." A visit of 1-2 hours is recommended. The best time to visit is on a sunny morning in spring, summer, or autumn, when the sunlight reflects off the porcelain shards, creating a beautiful, shimmering effect. It is suggested to visit when it first opens in the morning (9:00 AM) or when the lights come on in the evening to avoid peak crowds.

Subway (highly recommended): Take Subway Line 3 to Heping Road Station; or take Subway Line 4 to Heping Road Station. Bus: Take Sightseeing Bus 5 to the "Porcelain House" bus stop, then walk approximately 120 meters; or take bus routes 1, 50, or 35 to the "Chifeng Daoshan East Road" stop, then walk approximately 200 meters. When visiting, you can first take panoramic photos of the building from across the street, then enter the museum and visit each floor along the central spiral staircase. The porcelain dragons on the second and third floor balconies and the roof are photo highlights.

The interior passageways and staircases of the Porcelain House are quite narrow, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Those with mobility impairments should be especially careful when walking. There are restrooms inside, located on the left side of the building, also decorated with exquisite porcelain tiles. A small gift shop sells porcelain souvenirs, and near the exit is an exhibition hall showcasing the museum's treasures (photography is prohibited in this hall). Free guided tours are available, starting once a certain number of visitors have joined. The building has five floors; the basement is not open to the public, but floors one through four are open to visitors.
