Overview
Pudacuo National Park, located in Shangri-La City, Yunnan Province, is the first national park in mainland China. At an altitude of approximately 3,500 to 4,159 meters, its core landscape features alpine lakes, primeval forests, and subalpine pastures. Shudu Lake and Bita Lake are the two most scenic spots, with crystal-clear waters and frequent sights such as squirrels, yaks, and rare birds.
The recommended time to visit is from April to October, with rhododendrons blooming in May and June, and the autumn colors in September and October offering the best photo opportunities. In winter, visitors can enjoy rime ice and starry skies. A standard itinerary takes 4 to 6 hours. It is recommended to take a scenic shuttle bus connecting Shudu Lake (3.3 km wooden boardwalk) and Bita Lake for a light hike, or choose a boat trip or bicycle for a more in-depth experience.
