Jinji Lake, located in Suzhou Industrial Park, is a national 5A-level scenic area that is free to the public. It covers a total area of 11.5 square kilometers, with a water area of 7.4 square kilometers. The scenic area is open 24 hours a day, year-round, and a visit of 3-5 hours is recommended. The best time to visit is spring and autumn (when the weather is pleasant). Sunrise can be seen from 5:30 to 7:00 AM, and sunset and night views can be enjoyed from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
From Suzhou Railway Station, take Metro Line 4 to "Leqiao" Station, transfer to Metro Line 1, and get off at "Oriental Gate" Station. The entire journey takes approximately 35 minutes. Metro Line 1 is the most convenient option, stopping at multiple entrances including Oriental Gate Station, Cultural Expo Center Station, and Times Square Station. Metro Line 3's Ligongdi West Station provides access to the South Entrance, while Lines 5, 6, and 8 also cover the surrounding lake area. For public transportation, take the 1030 Holiday Tourist Special Line, which connects key attractions such as Moonlight Wharf and Ligongdi (departing hourly from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM). If driving, navigate to the "Suzhou Center Underground Parking Lot" (free for the first 2 hours) or the Moonlight Wharf Parking Lot. Recommended itinerary: Start from the Oriental Gate landmark on the west side of the lake, explore the Suzhou Center commercial complex, then take the free water bus across the lake to the Moonlight Wharf on the other side, visit Eslite Bookstore, stroll along the lakeside path to Jinshui Bay Pier to enjoy the lake view, and finally watch the musical fountain at the City Square (Friday/Saturday evening 19:30).
Jinji Lake boasts a 14-kilometer-long lakeside walking trail, 4-6 meters wide and primarily paved with granite, offering a flat and easy-to-walk path. Eleven rest stations (Jinji Station 01-11) are located around the lake, within a 15-minute walking radius, providing facilities such as seating, free drinking water, restrooms, and a library. Some stations also offer coffee and light snacks. Five visitor centers provide free maps, luggage storage, umbrella/stroller/wheelchair rentals, and medical services. The scenic area also features numerous gift shops and souvenir shops, with the Ligongdi International Style Commercial Water Street showcasing domestic and international brands and time-honored shops.
