Liziba Light Rail Station is a unique "light rail passing through a building" landscape in Chongqing, with trains rushing past the 6th to 8th floors of residential buildings, a representative of the city's magical 8D design. The observation deck is located outside Exit 1 and is open all day free of charge. The best time to visit is between 8-10 am or after 4 pm, when the light is softer and there are fewer people. While visiting, you can take classic "light rail swallowing" photos from the observation deck; or take the first carriage of Line 2 to experience the awe-inspiring feeling of passing through a building firsthand. There are also hidden photo spots nearby, such as the "Little Yellow Building," worth exploring.
Getting There
The most convenient way to get there is by taking Chongqing Metro Line 2 and getting off at "Liziba Station." Exit from Exit A to reach the viewing platform. If you are coming from Jiangbei Airport or Chongqing North Railway Station, you can transfer to Metro Line 3 and then transfer to Line 2 to reach the platform. Recommended itinerary: First, take a standard photo of the light rail passing through the building from the first-floor viewing platform. Then, walk to the nearby Anti-Japanese War Relics Park or stroll along the third-floor road to experience the charm of the mountain city's walking trails. This area is also close to the General Stilwell Museum and Eling No. 2 Factory, making it suitable to visit them together.
What to Expect
The viewing platform was upgraded in 2024 and now boasts a spacious layout that can accommodate a large number of visitors. Public restrooms, drinking fountains, and seating are available to meet basic needs. A gift shop and food stalls are also available for purchasing souvenirs. Note that some viewing areas require walking up and down stairs, but overall, accessibility is relatively good. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as there are numerous walking paths nearby to facilitate movement on ramps and steps.

- 1Admission to the Liziba viewing area is free (¥0) as of 2026, so do not buy unofficial “entry tickets” from touts.
- 2Take Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 to Liziba Station and aim for mid-morning or around sunset for better light and slightly thinner crowds.
- 3Bring a zoom lens or use your phone’s telephoto mode — the classic photo angle is from the roadside observation deck below the tracks.
