Fairy Mountain National Forest Park in Chongqing, known as the "Oriental Switzerland" and "Southern China's Premier Pasture," is a summer resort and snow-viewing paradise boasting 330,000 mu of forest and 100,000 mu of alpine grassland. The best time to visit is summer (June-August). While the city is unbearably hot, the average temperature here is only about 22℃, making it a perfect summer retreat. In winter (December-February), the park is covered in snow, offering stunning views of the snow-covered forest and opportunities for skiing. A full day is recommended, with key experiences including riding the popular mini-train along the "most beautiful highway," strolling on the vast grassland, and horseback riding and archery.
You can take the high-speed rail to Wulong South Station, then transfer to the Fairy Mountain Star Tourist Bus directly to the scenic area; or take a bus from Chongqing Sijiang Bus Hub to Wulong Bus Station (fare approximately 36 yuan), then transfer to a minibus to Fairy Mountain (fare approximately 10 yuan). Tour Route: After entering the scenic area, it is recommended to take the sightseeing train (25 yuan/person) from the Wooden Ladder Reception Center. Get off at the first stop to explore the vast grassland and interact with free-range cattle and sheep; the second stop is the horse riding area for a horseback riding experience; afterwards, you can walk back, taking photos of the stunning scenery along what is known as the "most beautiful highway."
The park boasts well-equipped facilities, with restrooms and convenience stores offering light meals and drinking water at key points such as the visitor center, the wooden ladder reception station, and the grassland. The scenic area and nearby Fairy Mountain Town offer a wide range of accommodation options, from high-end hotels to unique guesthouses. For dining, visitors can enjoy famous mutton hot pot and mutton stew served in bowls.
