No. 8, Tiger Hill Gate, Gusu District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province
Tiger Hill Scenic Area is hailed as the "Number One Scenic Spot in Wuzhong." Its core attractions include the Yunyan Temple Pagoda, the world's second leaning tower, and the mysterious Sword Pool, said to contain the sword of the King of Wu. The hill is only about 30 meters high, and the attractions are densely packed; a visit of 3-4 hours is recommended. The best time to visit is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November), when flowers are in full bloom or ginkgo and maple leaves are ablaze, and the average daily temperature is a comfortable 12-25℃. It is recommended to enter the park at 7:30 am or after 3 pm to avoid peak crowds.
How to get there: Take Suzhou Metro Line 6 to "Tiger Hill Station". Exit from Exit 3 and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the South Gate, which is very convenient. Multiple bus routes, including Tourist Bus 1, 2, and 3, go directly to "Tiger Hill" Station, and the South Gate is right next to the bus stop. Classic Tour Route (South Gate entrance, North Gate exit, approximately 2.5-4 hours): Head Gate → Broken Beam Hall (a Yuan Dynasty mechanical marvel) → Hanhan Spring → Sword Testing Stone → Thousand-Man Stone → Sword Pool → Tiger Hill Pagoda (core landmark) → Wanjing Villa (Suzhou-style bonsai art) → North Gate exit. After the tour, you can walk from the North Gate to Qili Shantang Street to continue exploring, or take a boat to experience the Suzhou-style waterfront charm.
The scenic area features paved stone paths and a few steps. The section from Sword Pool to Tiger Hill Pagoda requires climbing approximately 200 steps; comfortable sneakers or flat shoes are recommended. Restrooms are located in several places, including behind the Broken Beam Hall, Yanghejian, Lengxiang Pavilion, and the North Gate Visitor Center. They are clearly marked. In recent years, the restrooms in the core area have been modernized and equipped with hot water taps, drinking fountains, charging ports, and family-style toilets. Both the North and South Gate Visitor Centers offer free luggage storage (8:00-16:00), free rain gear lending, and guided tours (approximately 200 RMB/10 people). Electric sightseeing vehicles are available within the scenic area (hail and stop, 20 RMB/person) for those with mobility issues. The South Gate entrance also has an accessible ramp.
